People Looking for People
We've taken a new approach to this section. It's been re-organized by Henry Lichtenstein as an online spreadsheet. Rather than publish the list here, it's now available below. If you have found the person you are looking for, please let the editors know so the name can be removed from the list. If there's someone you're looking for, just send your request and we'll be happy to add it to the list. If anyone knows these folks, send an email to:

Our Reunion Website 62.hixreunion.com
Last month the Carfora's (Joe & Sharon) and Levitin's (Pat [Appleman] & Peter) met at the Carfora's in Chapel Hill . This month it was at the Levitin's in Greensboro . We're having such a good time together that we're planning to make it a frequent event! Pat and Joe are trying hard not to bore Peter and Sharon too much with discussions regarding the Class of '62's 50th Reunion in 2012, but it's an inevitable subject! We've received good suggestions from Peter, whose 50th in Connecticut is coming up soon and Sharon is passing some of the tips on to her committee in Schenectady , New York for it's 50th in 2013. Tips on Peter's class reunion website have been forwarded to the Class of '62 Reunion Committee in Hicksville and Pat has agreed to organize our reunion website, so stay tuned!
UPDATE!!! - Hicksville Vietnam War Era Memorial Project
August saw a significant change to the War Era timeline, referred to in our qualification rules up to this point as being from 1971 through 1973 as defined by a significant Vietnam War website. In our effort to make sure that no one deserving to be included in the memorial project is missed, we are now revising the dates to 2/28/1961 through 5/7/1975, as used by the American Legion. The official dates were quietly modified over the years for veterans benefits purposes. The email chain appearing below can give you more detail on how we arrived at this conclusion.
We are also excited to announce that Bill Walden, a Project Team member who also serves as Commander of the Hicksville VFW Post has agreed to lead our Site Selection & Approval and Fundraising efforts. He will be asking other local team members to help him in this endeavor.
August was a light name addition month due to some equipment problems our alumni aid encountered at the Hicksville Public Library and the fact I'm leaving for vacation on the 28th, giving us less time to work with than normal. Twenty new names were added, bringing us very close to the 1,600 name milestone, with a current total of 1,592 Hicksville Veterans who served our country during the Vietnam War Era! Also, much more progress was made this month in filling in missing data on the list.
In regard to missing data on the list of names, it continues to be important, even if you don't have names to send us, to review the list for missing information or information needing correction. The need for this data is shown in red on the list. Please email me if you can help us fill in the blanks. High school class year has been specifically noted, where we have it, to make this review easier for you to scan the list for people you may know. We again made good progress in filling in the blank information in July, so let's all pitch in to continue this effort!
As the list of names grows and before it is finalized, there is still much work to do; including site selection, approval by local authorities for site use, final design, fund raising, construction of the Memorial and finally its dedication.
In the meantime, please see the Honoring Our Veterans Section of this issue for the latest project information and to access the List of Veteran's Names and what you can do to help this list grow, so that no one who deserves to be included is missed.
On behalf of the Project Team,
Joe Carfora, HHS '62
The Rutgers Cup Follow-Up
Hopefully, the information in Casale's Corner will put to rest the slight controversy concerning the Rutgers cup won by Hicksville's Varsity Football Team back in the Sixties. The dilemma is the result of when football is played. The class of 1966 played their football in the fall of 1965 and graduated in June of 1966. The class of 1967 played in the fall of 1966.
This month there is a two-part memory lane.
The first is a get together of former classmates from the class of 1960, Ron Rocek and Kurt Stietz. The second part is a get together in July with former classmates from the class of 1955. Please go to Memory Lane to view the events.
Thanks

Memory Lane
This is a two-part memory lane.
The first is a get together of former classmates from the class of 1960, Ron Rocek and Kurt Stietz. The second part is a get together in July with former classmates from the class of 1955.
Hello all,
I just wanted to share our dinner meeting last July with former classmate Kurt Stietz and his wife Margaret. My wife Lin and I were up in Albany for our annual visit with a (Data Dallas) customer and took time out to meet and have dinner with the Stietz's at Bella Michaels, in Oneonta New York. I don't know if it was Bella Michaels when most of you were attending college there, but whatever the name, it was completely wonderful. Kurt chose the restaurant and got an "A" for that effort. Great folks, and wonderful food made the evening memorable. I love New York! (In the summertime)!!
Ron Rocek '60 & Lin
The get together was toted as a casual, outdoor, old-fashioned barbecue. Those who were able to attend traveled to.
