On March 28, 1925, Hicksville High School was dedicated. When Ron Wencer's Ancient Hixtory article first appeared in November 2018, pictures inside the auditorium were unavailable online. Battle of Long Island August 27-29, 1776

The vote for the Declaration of Independence took place on July 2nd of 1776. All of the Colonies voted “Yes” except one. New York abstained for 9 days because they had not received instructions from their assembly on how to vote. Because of this, the first printing of the Declaration, the Dunlap Broadside,

The first and largest major battle of the Revolutionary War occurred from August 27-29, 1776, in the southwest portion of Long Island, known as Brooklyn Heights.

The D'Antuono Family
Diana, this is a great photo of you and your siblings that was taken 60 years ago. I want to post in a future issue of HixNews and was doing some investigating and now I'm totally confused. Two Diana's, one graduating in 1964, and another in 1969. Two Michael's, one graduating in 1966 and the second in 1969. A Carol in 1972 and Joe in 1973; and I could not find Toni in any graduating class. Bring me up to date on who's who???

Mid-Island Plaza 1957 Open Air MallIf you grew up in Hicksville, chances are you either worked at one of the stores in Mid-Island Plaza, or you worked at Sears. You probably hung out at the
Sears mall with your friends on a Friday or Saturday night, or maybe you went to see a movie at the Twin Theaters during the summer or during winter break. Maybe you took the LIRR to the city to see a play or skate at Rockerfeller Center. Those days are over. Hicksville’s downtown is going through revitalization.
