Class of 1972,

Go to the Photo Gallery for a little flashback in time. Perhaps students other than those who responded may be able to close out the questions about those who are not identified.

UPDATE - Hicksville Vietnam War Era Memorial Project

Four more names were added in May for a new total of 1,780.

As previously mentioned, we have concluded that the search for new names is nearly complete.  Our research is now centered on filling in missing data for the names we already have.  As a HixNews reader, you can still be of significant help to this effort by clicking on the list of names near the bottom of this month's UPDATE that appears in the Honoring Our Veterans section of the newsletter.  Please look the list over to see if we are still missing any Veterans you know of and also let us know if you have some of the data we are missing for names already on the list.

Our objective remains to not miss anyone who meets the qualifications and deserves to be included in the Memorial.  You can still help make this happen!!

On behalf of The Project Team,
Joe Carfora, HHS '62

Flashback to East Street School

Gary KillenTall fellow in the back is Paul Kirkpatrick. To the right of the teacher (cannot remember the teacher's name) is Pamela Rano.

Gayl Selkin-Gutman Isn't it funny that you don't remember your teacher's names?

Phyllis Quigley Greiner I used to know all them but not so many anymore ..

June Lauer Henley was that Mrs. Healy? 1st grade at East Street?

Gayl Selkin-Gutman Must be at least 3rd grade - considering the cursive examples above the blackboard. Nice to see a classmate's name, June.

June Lauer Henley Could that be Mrs. Miller? Although I remember having her for English.

Patricia Crabtree Hogue likes this.

Gayl Selkin-Gutman I used to think of him as a President Johnson look-alike (when I was in 2nd grade)

Phyllis Quigley Greiner I also thought so.

Gayl Selkin-Gutman Glad to know I'm not alone.

Gary Killen Teacher (??? anyone) and student is Barry Schwartz.

Gayl Selkin-Gutman Could it be Mrs. Seltz?

Gary Killen That's ringing a few bells.. Very well could be. Thanks Gayl.

Michael Fenn Looks like Mrs Seltz. I remember she used to wear this bright green and blue suit sometimes. Wow did that light up the room!

Iris Sluter I have such a different memory of Mrs. seltz and wasn't it Mrs. Seltzer??
