The PBY Catalina
Given the fact that the first PBY Catalina flew in South Africa in 1943/4 during World War Two (WWII), a historical and exciting (but also sad) event is about to unfold at Rand Airport, Germiston, South Africa. Most likely the very last ever to be seen in South Africa, is about to start its post restoration test flying before leaving for the USA, to be delivered to its new owner, Mr. Jim Slattery in San Diego CA.
