newHickLogoWe are reprinting Ron Wencer's article about Mary Keller, Part 2, which includes new information about a photograph on page 6, along with a fascinating footnote.  We are pleased to include another episode of Where Are They Now?, featuring Hal Blackman from the Class of 1977. We think you will find his story fascinating and helpful! Last month, we asked those who served to email us. Our webmaster created a new section under Honoring our Vets, where you will see Our Veterans' Stories. Please continue to send us your information so we can add you to this section. Spouse: Gillie Campbell; met in graduate school; Gillie is from Lexington, VA

Children: 3 of my own plus 3 step children

Grandchildren: 8

How long have you been married: since 1999. This is my second marriage.

Occupation: Affordable housing developer

Education beyond HHS: Brandeis University, 1965, BA in history; MIT, 1967, Master of City Planning

Military service: US Army 1968 - 1969; in Vietnam for one year, working for Saigon Civil Assistance Group as an urban planner. Mike Cotsonas was in the Army in Saigon at the same time and we had lunch from time to time.

Pastimes: reading, travel, good movies, local restaurants, hosting friends and family

What we need to know:

Went away to at Brandeis with two others from HHS: Judy Yanof and Nancy Sherman. Majored in history.

Went to graduate school and then was drafted.

Married while in the Army; on return, worked for several years with NY State Urban Development Corporation and then moved in 1973 to Alexandria, VA where I joined a large architectural firm (Skidmore, Owings & Merrill) as project manager and administrator.

Three kids - born 1970, 1974 and 1978. They now live in Bellingham WA, Manhattan and Brooklyn.

Divorced after 25 years. Remarried someone I knew from graduate school whom I remet at a reunion.

Co-founded an architectural-interior design firm which I held for twelve years and sold in 1995 to go into low-income housing development. For past seven years I have doing housing development for a national nonprofit called Volunteers of America.

If I had to do it over again: I am happy to say I wouldn't change a thing. I feel blessed.

I very much appreciate the homework the reunion committee is doing. It enabled me to get back in touch with Jack Jastrab, Mike Simon, Victor Theiss and Mike Cotsonas plus I had a mini-reunion lunch with Howie Zuckerman and Jackie Travers Carbe at the restaurant that Paul and Jackie Carbe operate in Alexandria.
