You Know You're From Hicksville If

I remember Willie, the Chef at Milleridge Inn, yelling at me for not getting back fast enough from the Bakery with the Cinnamon Bread mini-loafs (because I stopped to eat one on the way). Also making the French fries at Wetson's and life guarding at Cantiaque Park . Another job, folding sweaters at National Shirt Shop while my friends were trying to get me into Sid's Pants.

House of Donuts on Corner of East Marie Street

It wasn't a donut shop when I went to the movies there. It used to be Ray's Luncheonette. Burgers, egg creams, great tunes on the juke box, pinball and a pool table. Great hang out!
Gary Killen 1972

Remember the Pawn Shop next to the Theater?
Ray Gamble

Remember the army navy store next to the Hicksville movie theater ? Best window shopping ever; switch blade knives, canteens, binoculars, old comic books, no end of junk. And I remember seeing Elvis Presley in kissing cousins at the Hicksville movie theater. It was air conditioned and the first place you went on a hot summer might. Maybe 1964?
