newHickLogoWe are reprinting Ron Wencer's article about Mary Keller, Part 2, which includes new information about a photograph on page 6, along with a fascinating footnote.  We are pleased to include another episode of Where Are They Now?, featuring Hal Blackman from the Class of 1977. We think you will find his story fascinating and helpful! Last month, we asked those who served to email us. I attended Brandeis University after high school and earned a BA degree. I then attended the Harvard Graduate School of Education where I earned a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT). Degree. I wanted to pursue a career in teaching and found a job as a Junior High School Music Teacher after receiving my MAT.

That didn't last long as I had this passion for singing so left teaching and was involved with classical music for 20 years. Around the same time, in 1969, I married Bernard Basescu. Originally, Bernard and I met in NYC. We had two children and have one grandchild.

We separated back in 1988 and later divorced.

I returned to education only this time as an administrator. I was director of admissions at an independent NYC day school for 22 years.

When I attended our 50 Year reunion in September, I was semi-retired working as a consultant for a non-profit organization. I'm delighted at being a grandma.

Current Hobbies...Flutist...beginning Cellist ...theater, dance and concert goer...Yankee Fan...NYC Fan...though I do love to get away, too!

Finally, if I had to do it all over again, I would trust my own judgment more and would take more risks. But, if it took the life I lived to bring me to this place, then I accept it fully!
