    Dear Readers,
We hope you enjoy our latest HixNews issue. Thankfully, we do not have any In Memoriams to report this month, nor have we received any emails,  so there is no Etcetera section. In case you try to access the Hicksville Public Library yearbooks site from our page, it is not working as of now. The library is aware. We plan to focus on memories of holidays in Hicksville next month and would love to hear from you! Article contributions, suggestions, and news are always welcome. Don't hesitate to get in touch with us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

I attended Brandeis University after high school and earned a BA degree. I then attended the Harvard Graduate School of Education where I earned a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT). Degree. I wanted to pursue a career in teaching and found a job as a Junior High School Music Teacher after receiving my MAT.

That didn't last long as I had this passion for singing so left teaching and was involved with classical music for 20 years. Around the same time, in 1969, I married Bernard Basescu. Originally, Bernard and I met in NYC. We had two children and have one grandchild.

We separated back in 1988 and later divorced.

I returned to education only this time as an administrator. I was director of admissions at an independent NYC day school for 22 years.

When I attended our 50 Year reunion in September, I was semi-retired working as a consultant for a non-profit organization. I'm delighted at being a grandma.

Current Hobbies...Flutist...beginning Cellist ...theater, dance and concert goer...Yankee Fan...NYC Fan...though I do love to get away, too!

Finally, if I had to do it all over again, I would trust my own judgment more and would take more risks. But, if it took the life I lived to bring me to this place, then I accept it fully!
