Last month's HixNews

On June 25, 2007 in Nashville Tennessee, Michael C. Samberg ('64') lost his 13 year battle with cancer.  He was my friend for 50 years and I will miss him.  Michael was a loving husband, a devoted father, and an outstanding older brother.   His focus always centered on his family.  His distinguished career as a Warden was noteworthy and he was recognized as an innovator and expert in the field of Corrections.  A proud moment for Michael and his family last year was his award as Warden of the Year.  Michael's diagnosis in 1994 was the beginning of his brave and formidable fight with a rare form of cancer.  At 5 years we celebrated his continued survival and at 10 years all were amazed at his will to live.  He endured endless medical procedures and as an amazing testament to strength and determination he continued working until 10 days before his death.  I learned many things from him and the most lasting was his example of how to be the greatest friend.  His grace and dignity will be forever remembered.  Rest my friend. Larry Senn ('64')

Hi Editors,   Just a short note to let you know that Frank Jones, '66 passed away on June 3 2007.  Frank was part of our Mid Island Bowl crew.  He went through some rough times these last few years.   Bill Walden, 65

I'd like to pass this information on to you that Barbara Edwards listed in your August birthday section passed away in November 2005.  You can probably confirm that with her husband George at the email address she used. Lorraine (Kirwan) Cheeseman, HHS 1964
