Marty Cohen   Class of 1961

It's been a long time since I was in Hicksville.  I have fond memories of my growing up there.  HHS was a blast.

I graduated from Adelphi in 1965 and received my MD degree from GW University in Washington, DC in 1969.  After my residency and eventual fellowship in gastroenterology, I practiced in Amarillo, TX for 30 years.  I served in the USAF from 1973-75.

I was on the faculty of Texas Tech Med School, but also found time to teach photography at Amarillo College and was a teaching assistant at a local HS in an underprivileged area of town.  I gave lectures on the national circuit of visiting professors at various medical schools.  I received several awards, being listed in Best Doctors, Top Physicians,  Best Doctors in Texas, and recognition from Cambridge University in England.

I am married, now 43 years, to my wife Susan, and have two daughters and one grandson and am very proud of all of them.  My wife and I did a lot of charity work while living in Amarillo.  I also received the Lion of Judah Award form the State of Israel in 2002.

We are now retired in Arizona and enjoying every moment. Retirement just meant opening new chapters in our lives.  Sue is teaching history classes for an extension division at the University of Arizona, and I am taking courses in astronomy and astrophysics and teaching a class in quantum physics.  I would never have imagined we would be doing these things in a million years.
