Fund Raising:
$75 in March donations have finally been recorded, bringing total
receipts to $39,408. With
the Memorial now complete, we have roughly $3,800 remaining for future
needs. This does not
leave much for Dedication Ceremony expenses and future Memorial
maintenance. So, if you have yet to donate,
or wish to make an additional donation, now would be a great time! You
can still become part of the Memorial if you can spare as little as $10
for this worthy cause to recognize your fellow alumni who served our
Great Country. We will very much appreciate any amount you can spare. Remember, all donations are
tax deductible. Just follow
the simple instructions below. Your
generosity will be very much appreciated. Donation checks should be made out to: Hicksville Vietnam Era Memorial Project March donations were from one new donor,
plus one repeat donor, so as of the end of July, the total number of
donors is 212. All donors
(individuals, couples and groups) are listed alphabetically at the end
of this update. Memorial construction is now complete.
Construction was completed in mid-November,
2019 but the final Dedication Ceremony was delayed for winter weather
considerations and now the Pandemic. In
the meantime, alumni and other readers can
drop by to see the Memorial.
An announcement of the date and time of the Dedication Ceremony
will be made after we have a legal "all clear" on the Pandemic and
at least a month in advance of the ceremony.
The announcement will be posted in HixNews, as well as on the
Hicksville Facebook pages. As
Hicksville's Board of Education has had to turn their attention to
managing the school district under the Pandemic, we have understandably
yet to hear from Superintendant Lintz regarding possible dedication
dates, the need for
insurance, or a permit for the Dedication Ceremony.

because the names of those who paid the ultimate price during the
