Hicksville Vietnam War Era Memorial UPDATE - 12/1/19

Fund Raising: There were no new donations in either October, or November.  Total donations, as reported last month stand at $39,133.  With the Memorial just about complete, we only have roughly $3,500 left after deducting payments made to date and considering invoices that are in the process of payment.  This does not leave much for a possible enhancement to the Memorial, dedication ceremony expenses and future maintenance.

So, if you have yet to donate, or wish to make an additional donation, now would be a great time!  You can still become part of the Memorial if you can spare as little as $10 for this worthy cause to recognize your fellow alumni who served our Great Country. We will very much appreciate any amount you can spare.

Remember, all donations are tax deductible.  Just follow the simple instructions below.  Your generosity will be very much appreciated.

Donation checks should be made out to:

Hicksville Vietnam Era Memorial Project

And should be mailed to:

Hicksville Vietnam Era Memorial Project
c/o William Walden
245 West 9th Street
Deer Park , NY 11729

The total number of donors remains at 209.  All donors (individuals, couples and groups) are listed alphabetically at the end of this update.

Memorial construction is now complete, except we are considering adding to the height of the Center Stone with a suitable image, depending on its cost vs. the remaining funds we have available.

Construction was completed in November, just before Veterans Day, so Bill Walden, as commander of the Hicksville VFW Post and commander of Nassau County 's VFW organization, was able to show it to state, county and local dignataries on 11/11, after Veterans Day ceremonies were completed.   Alumni and other readers can now drop by to see the Memorial; however, as previously announced, we are delaying the Memorial's Dedication Ceremony until next spring, when the weather will be better for an outdoor event.  An announcement of the date and time of the Dedication Ceremony will be made at least a month in advance in HixNews and will also be posted on the "You Know You're From Hicksville , NY If"  and the " Hicksville High Alumni Foundation" Facebook pages.

FINAL Confirmed List of Names:

Please click on the following link to review the Confirmed List of Names, organized alphabetically by graduating class year and shown as they will appear on the Memorial: Click here

Please note that the list of those killed in action does not appear on the Confirmed List, because the names of those who paid the ultimate price during the Vietnam War, are honored with a separate plaque that contains additional details and is placed on the Memorial's Center Stone, just below the Memorial's Dedication Plaque.
