Hicksville Vietnam War Era Memorial UPDATE

Fund Raising:  Donations surged in March, following last month's update and thanks to an email blast to all readers by Bob Casale.  $1,475 was added this past month, bringing the current total to $11,882 against our needed goal of $25,000 to construct, place and maintain the Memorial.  Donations are now back on track and should receive added momentum now that the finished Memorial Center Plaque has been received by Bill Walden and will be encased in a display at the Hicksville VFW and used at additional donation sites, such as the April 15th Hicksville Alumni Foundation Fundraising Event.  The Foundation is generously allowing us to set up a Memorial donation table at this event and has also promised a portion of total donation receipts to the Memorial Project!

Even with these events, the Project Team continues to need individual HixNews reader support and we certainly trust your donations will continue to be sent.

The total number of donors has now reached 118, with 23 new donors added in the past month.  Additional funds have also been received due to the generosity of repeat donors.

If every reader would spare as little as $10 for this worthy cause, our $25,000 goal will be very achievable.

The majority of HixNews readers have still not donated, so please help us as soon as you can!

Remember, your donations are tax deductible.  Just follow the simple instructions below.  Your generosity will be very much appreciated.

Donation checks should be made out to:

And should be mailed to:

An alphabetical list of current donors appears at the end of this monthly update.

With one addition in March, the Confirmed List of Names now totals 1,905.  Also,  additional missing data was added this month.   There has been no change in the Unconfirmed List of Names for some time now.  We continue to need help from all our readers here!!

As a HixNews reader, please help us by reviewing both lists when you select the "click here" options near the bottom of this update.  To save you time, just look for names from your class year and other years you may be familiar with, as a reference and see if you have a new name or some missing data on existing names to email to us.  Class years, where known, are specifically shown and missing data is marked in red, to make it easy for you to see what's needed.

The Unconfirmed List was created to specifically insure we don't leave anyone behind from earlier class years (the 1940's and 50's) who served during the Vietnam War Era and deserve recognition.  Please see if you can help us establish if these folks served during the Vietnam Era (Vietnam Era dates are shown in the "Memorial Qualifications" section below).

Memorial Qualifications and Project Team:  Overall Qualifications for the Memorial have been displayed in this report monthly for a long time now and have not changed.  If you are a new reader, please check a past issue of HixNews for qualifications and the list of other Project Team members.

Here's what we continue to need from each person reading this to do:

If you know of someone who is not listed, or if you have information we are still missing, please email what you have to Joe Carfora at jcar4a@aol.com.    Please use the information contained on the current list as a guide for the data needed to complete a name's listing.
