    FUNERAL FOR FOUR HEROES

LAKEWOOD, Wash. - The four officers who were shot and killed at a Lakewood coffee shop were all members of the original Lakewood police force, said Lakewood Mayor Douglas Richardson.

                      

They were identified as:

• Sergeant Mark Renninger, 39, with thirteen years of law enforcement experience. He is survived by a wife, two daughters and a son.

• Officer Ronald Owens, age 37 with twelve years of law enforcement experience. He is survived by a former wife and a daughter.

• Officer Tina Griswold, age 40 with fourteen years of law enforcement experience. She is survived by her husband and two children.

• Officer Greg Richards, age 42 with eight years of law enforcement experience. He is survived by a wife and three children.

Unprecedented tens of thousands of police officers from all over the United States, Canada and overseas showed up for the funeral for the 4 slain police officers from the Tacoma, Washington suburb of Lakewood.
Over 20,000 police officers arrived for the funeral. 1,000 Royal Canadian Mounted Police officers dressed in their red uniforms formed a massive sea of red. Over 100 officers attended from New York and another 100 from Boston .
All hotels in Tacoma were booked full and the overflow officers were invited into the homes of local officers.
McChord Air Force Base offered their base as a staging area for over 1,000 police vehicles that would form a procession from Lakewood to the Tacoma Dome. An amazing 3,000 vehicles showed up from all over the United States and he procession took 4 hours to wind their way to the Tacoma Dome. The streets were lined with thousands of folks waving American flags.
The weather was sunny but the temperatures hovered around 20 degrees. The below picture shows the procession as they picked up the 4 white hearses in Lakewood .
