Nancy Sherman

Class of 1961

I attended Brandeis University after high school and earned a BA degree. I then attended the Harvard Graduate School of Education where I earned a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT). Degree. I wanted to pursue a career in teaching and found a job as a Junior High School Music Teacher after receiving my MAT.

That didn’t last long as I had this passion for singing so left teaching and was involved with classical music for 20 years. Around the same time, in 1969, I married Bernard Basescu. Originally, Bernard and I met in NYC. We had two children and have one grandchild.

We separated back in 1988 and later divorced.

I returned to education only this time as an administrator. I was director of admissions at an independent NYC day school for 22 years.

When I attended our 50 Year reunion in September, I was semi-retired working as a consultant for a non-profit organization. I’m delighted at being a grandma.

Current Hobbies...Flutist…beginning Cellist …theater, dance and concert goer…Yankee Fan…NYC Fan…though I do love to get away, too!

Finally, if I had to do it all over again, I would trust my own judgment more and would take more risks. But, if it took the life I lived to bring me to this place, then I accept it fully!
