Gail Grupp Stemper
sooo long Ė canít wait to see "yíall" again! This bio
covers not just the last ten years but the whole nine yards!
I am a 1956
. I met Jack during my junior year at William and Mary. He was a LTJG
(Lieutenant Junior Grade) stationed in
. We were married in August of 1960 and settled in
. I taught second grade for a year and signed a new contract. However,
when I informed my superintendent that I was pregnant that September, he
replied with, "It would be in the best interest of the children if
I found someone who would be with them the entire year". My, how
times have changed! Thatís when I became a "stay-at-home"
mom to three daughters and two sons for the next 19 years.
in the battery industry resulted in moves to
, back to
(Marlton this time), on to
, and finally to NC in 1979 where I began teaching again. All of our
five children graduated from North Carolina Universities - so weíve
become avid "Tar Heel" fans!
I retired in
2002 and am loving the life! We stay busy with church activities,
bridge, gardening, and keeping up with 10 grandchildren ages 3 to 16.
Our children now live in Colorado Springs, Chapel Hill, Washington (DC),
Switzerland (yes, John is a Swiss banker), and Clemmons - so we travel
often to visit. We spent two weeks at Christmas with John and his family
. Southerners just arenít used to so much snow and bitter cold!
I am really
looking forward to the reunion and renewing old friendships.
